The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

The Grandmaster's Retort

  • 1 of 7: Helende's next quest has you going after a grandmaster-level retort, which is one of the four types of potion-making apparatus.
  • 2 of 7: You can get grandmaster's mortar & pestles and a calcinator here in Sadrith Mora, but you'll have to go to Tel Mora to get a GM retort.
  • 3 of 7: Take the boat at the local docks to Tel Mora, then find Berwen's trader shop a ways to the NE.
  • 4 of 7: You can try to steal the retort off the top shelf near Berwen. If you can't do so sneakily, you can always just grab it and leave the shop quickly.
  • 5 of 7: Or you can buy it from her if you have the money and if you go upstairs and kill the nasty old Corprus Stalker that's been pestering her. (Note that doing so is also one of Hrundi's Fighters Guild quests, so you can get a reward from him, too).
  • 6 of 7: Once the corprus stalker is dead, go back downstairs and barter with Berwen to get the grandmaster's retort. Her big disposition increase from your killing the stalker should help with the price.
  • 7 of 7: Take the retort to Helende to turn it over and get 200 gold (and visit Hrundi in the Fighters Guild in Wolverine Hall to get 500 more if you haven't already).
