The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

Where's the Dragonbone cuirass that's supposed to be in the Mudan Grotto?

  • 1 of 12: First, find the Mudan Grotto's underwater entrance at location 18 on the Vivec map. As always with these things, you'll find the door by checking the game's automap when you get close.
  • 2 of 12: Enter the grotto and explore the underwater passageways until you find an underwater door that leads to the Lost Dwemer Checkpoint.
  • 3 of 12: Once inside there, find the ladder leading up to the Right Tower. It's down an underwater passage north and west of the entrance.
  • 4 of 12: In the tower, loot the corpse of Peke Utchoo (sez which?) to get a key you'll need soon.
  • 5 of 12: Return to the main checkpoint area and find the rooms that are only knee-deep in water.
  • 6 of 12: One of them has a small locked table underwater next to a bed that your recently-acquired key will open.
  • 7 of 12: In the table is another key you'll need, so take it.
  • 8 of 12: Now follow the long underwater passage that leads to the ladder up to the locked trapdoor to the Central Vault.
  • 9 of 12: The key from the table will open the vault entrance, so go inside and start looting the place.
  • 10 of 12: There's the usual semi-valuable Dwemer stuff (and a very rare Potion of Heroism on a shelf), but what you really want is in that tightly-locked closet.
  • 11 of 12: Kill the Steam Guardian to get the key to the closet, then open it to find one of the game's greatest artifacts, the Dragonbone cuirass.
  • 12 of 12: That beauty not only has a terrific AC value, it also makes you 100% immune to fire damage!
