The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

City Notes and Extras

  • 1 of 7: Balmora City is a great place to make some money. You can take stuff from all the containers scattered about the city without getting in trouble, and you can steal items from most of the merchants and houses in town. (Just be sure no one can see you when you take the items, and don't try to sell them to the guy you steal them from.)
  • 2 of 7: There's a neat Sword of White Woe in the Eastern Guard Tower near Cosades' house. Go to the top floor of the tower and look on top of the closet to find it. To take it peacefully, you'll have to grab it in Sneak mode or with the Telekinesis spell (which you can buy in the Ald'ruhn Mages Guild). Look for another of these beauties in Suran's Guard Tower in the Bal Ur region.
  • 3 of 7: TIP: Another way to get the Sword of White Woe is to attack the guard once, resist arrest, and run for the exit door. Then go talk to Phane Rielle in the South Wall Cornerclub to get your small bounty removed. Now return to the Eastern Guard Tower and run up to the top floor and grab the sword. (If the guard starts walking back upstairs, talk to him to get him to stop, then run upstairs and get the sword quickly!)
  • 4 of 7: Once you're high-ranking enough in the Thieves Guild, Hecerinde will not only train you but also sell you Secret Master lockpicks and probes. Those are even better than the master and grandmaster ones, so buy! (Note that a game patch or glitch may empty Hecerinde's inventory.)
  • 5 of 7: If you can open the tough lock on the locked door in The Razor Hole, you'll find a room with some great weapons in it, including a unique axe called the Dwemer Pneuma-Trap (Soultrap for 30 seconds when strikes).
  • 6 of 7: If you're sneaky enough, you can steal some orc armor from behind the counter in Meldor's armorer shop in Balmora City.
  • 7 of 7: Nalcarya has a grandmaster-quality mortar & pestle on a shelf near the door in her shop. It's definitely worth stealing if you're into making your own potions.
