The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

Destroy Dagoth Ur.

  • 1 of 23: You have Wraithguard, Keening, and Sunder, right? If so, and there's nothing else you want to do first, travel to the Dagoth Ur citadel at location 13 on the Dagoth Ur map.
  • 2 of 23: To enter the citadel, levitate down to the one entrance and turn the Dwarven crank that's on a pipe a short ways to the left of it to cycle the little Dwemer airlock.
  • 3 of 23: Once you're inside the Outer Facility, make your way to the Inner Facility and then the Lower Facility. You probably already explored everything except the Lower Facility and beyond in the Temple faction quest retrieve the Crosier of St. Llothi.
  • 4 of 23: Don't be disoriented by Dagoth Ur talking to you long-distance as soon as you enter the Outer Facility. He can't do anything to you yet.
  • 5 of 23: In the Lower Facility, be sure to kill Dagoth Gilvoth and get his wonderful Blood Ring before entering the Facility Cavern.
  • 6 of 23: Dagoth Ur himself is in the Facility Cavern, but he doesn't attack you right away. He waits for you to strike the first blow. However, he won't wait forever, so you'll want to hastily make a few preparations and then gouge him a good one.
  • 7 of 23: First, cast as many monster summoning spells as you can to create a few distractions for Ur when he starts attacking.
  • 8 of 23: Then ready the Black Hands Dagger that I sure hope you got at the end of Eno Hlaalu's Special Duties for the Morag Tong. It drains its target's health for quite awhile after each blow, so it's the best thing to use now.
  • 9 of 23: Hit Dagoth Ur with the Black Hands Dagger and then run and dodge. Try to hide behind things. If you're lucky, he'll be distracted enough or blocked enough by your summoned monsters for you to get away from this encounter unharmed.
  • 10 of 23: After the Black Hands Dagger does its work, check near the door that Ur's spirit fled through to find that he left the valuable Heart Ring behind.
  • 11 of 23: The door to Akulakhan's Chamber is now open, but save your game before you go in there. Dagoth Ur is invincible in there, and you won't be able to summon nearly enough monsters to block him from attacking you.
  • 12 of 23: You'll want to use your ash vampire artifacts plus whatever else you have to cast loads of protective and enhancing spells on yourself right before going through the door. (Readying Wraithguard and Keening or Sunder is good for a heap of enhancements, too.)
  • 13 of 23: Akulakhan's Chamber is the giant chamber where Dagoth Ur is constructing a god-like automaton with which he plans to conquer Vvardenfell and eventually the entire world. You start out on a ledge that's up near the top of the Akulakhan monstrosity.
  • 14 of 23: Your goal here is simple: destroy the Heart of Lorkhan. It's in the unfinished robot's chest, accessible by a rope bridge that's a considerable distance directly below the ledge you and Dagoth Ur start on.
  • 15 of 23: The best way to handle this is to cast Slowfall on yourself and drop down to the bridge. If you're lucky, Dagoth Ur will jump after you and miss the bridge, which will keep him off your back for a few critical seconds. (Or you can run down the winding pathway that leads down there and hope Ur will get confused trying to follow you.)
  • 16 of 23: Run up to the glowing, pulsing god's heart and give it a good whack with Sunder.
  • 17 of 23: After doing that, stab it with Keening until it dies and vanishes.
  • 18 of 23: That will destroy Dagoth Ur completely, and Akulakhan will start falling apart. Run quickly back across the rope bridge to avoid going down with it.
  • 19 of 23: Make your way back up to the ledge you came in on via levitation or the winding pathway that goes around the edge of the cavern.
  • 20 of 23: To open the Dwemer airlock over the door, find and use the Dwemer crank that's on a pipe nearby.
  • 21 of 23: Return to the Facility Chamber and approach the door to the Lower Facility to get a final cut scene.
  • 22 of 23: After Azura vanishes, get the Ring of Azura that's floating in the air. It has constant effects on it that regenerate your fatigue and give you 20 points of Night Eye.
  • 23 of 23: And that's it! Game over, man! You can play on, finishing up quests you didn't get done before, hunting down special monsters and artifacts that you skipped earlier, pumping all your skills and stats up to the perfect value of 100, etc., but you're basically done with the game. Rejoice!
