The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints
Take books to Ald'ruhn Mages Guild.
of 8: Talk to Ilmeni Dren in the house in Vivec labeled "St. Delyn Canal South - One" about "business" and "people cannot read" to get this quest. (You have to be at least a Kinsman to get it.)
of 8: She asks you to get copies of "The Annotated Anuad" and "ABCs for Barbarians" books and deliver them to Vala Catraso in Ald'ruhn.
of 8: "The Annotated Anuad" is all over the place, in book stores, libraries, private residences, etc. You should easily be able to buy or steal one.
of 8: As for the ABC book, it's a lot harder to find. I found a guy in the Hlaalu Waistworks named Elo Arethan who had one for sale. This may be random, though. I later found copies in Codus Callonus' book shop in Ald'ruhn City, and one sitting on a bed in the Ald'ruhn Fighters Guild.
of 8: There's also an easy-to-get ABC book on a table in the upper level of the ship in Vos (Tel Mora region). You could just take a ship there, get the book, and then sail on to where you're going next.
of 8: Once you have both books, go to the Ald'ruhn Mages Guild and find Vala Catraso near the Imperial Cult altar on the lower floor.
of 8: Talk to her about "people cannot read" and turn the books over.
of 8: Return to Dren to report success and finish the quest.
