The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints
What's the purpose of these areas?
1 of 4: They're mainly for experience and treasure.
2 of 4: Go through the areas and kill all the bandits. They're fairly tough for new players, so you'll probably want to do all the quests in Seyda Neen and visit Ghorak Manor in Caldera (to get orcish armor) first.
3 of 4: Also, loot all the rooms and containers of goods. There's a lot of heavy stuff, so you'll want to minimize your inventory before coming here.
4 of 4: There are also some slaves to free in each cave.
