Useful Enchanted Items
- Note that most of the things listed below require the best items and soul gems to create as specified, but you can always downgrade things to fit your budget. For instance, if you can't make a ring that fortifies an attribute by 24 constantly, instead create one that fortifies an attribute by 5 constantly, or one that fortifies an attribute by 30 for several minutes when used. The following list is for fairly advanced players with a *lot* of money and a very high Mercantile skill (or who can do all their enchantments themselves using an Enchant-enhancing item or two).
This list has been formatted as a checklist, with the items that are easier or more important listed first. You can make them in any order, though. Print the checklist out if you want to have it handy for reference.
___ Exquisite ring or amulet with a constant Night Eye on Self of 100 points. This is great for illuminating dark dungeons and outdoor regions at night. This should be your very first constant effect item.
___ Exquisite ring or amulet that can summon a Golden Saint for 43 seconds when used. This is invaluable for creating more Golden Saint soul gems for enchanting.
___ Ebony staff with a "Cast When Strikes" effect of Absorb Health 45 points for 5 seconds. This won't be quite as good as the Black Hands Dagger, but it'll be far better than most weapons in the game, including many of the great artifact weapons. Note that while you don't have to use a top-level soul gem to create this item, it's definitely better to so that it'll have more charge.
___ Just about any cheap object with a constant Water Breathing effect on it for when you go swimming. If you use an item with a lot of enchantment potential, you might could add a few constant Swift Swim points on, too. (I usually use a belt for this one.)
___ Just about any cheap object with a constant Levitate effect of 1 point on it. This is a good effect to have on you when you have to cross water to get from one area to another, or want to levitate up a steep cliff or over a wall. You won't move very fast with only 1 point of Levitate, so you'll probably only equip the item briefly when you need it. You could speed yourself up with anything that increases your Levitate points or Speed attribute. (I usually use a belt for this one.)
___ An exquisite ring or amulet with a "Cast When Used" spell of Resist Magicka 100% on Self for a few seconds (can be up to 12, but I recommend 3 or 4). Use this item right before equipping something like the Boots of Blinding Speed that has a negative constant effect on it (100% blindness in the case of those boots).
___ Exquisite ring or amulet that casts Open for 100 pts on Touch (leave the Area field at 0) when used. This wondrous item can open any lock in the game! (Note that if you plan to raise your Security skill past 60 or so, this item won't be very useful to you after you do.)
___ Exquisite ring or amulet with a constant Restore Health range 1 to 8 on it. This is no replacement for the unpatched version of the Robe of St. Roris or the Royal Signet Ring from Mournhold, but it's a lot better than nothing. You could also create a similar item with a constant Restore Fatigue effect.
___ Exquisite rings and amulets with constant Fortify Attributes of +24 for various attributes. Switch them in and out as needed. (You could make the amount of increase a range, as with the Telekinesis item below, so that every time you ready it, there's a chance of getting a value larger than 24.)
___ Exquisite ring or amulet with a constant Telekinesis on Self effect for a range of 1 to 47 feet. Note that the range's value will be chosen randomly when the item is equipped, so unready and reready it if you don't get a number close to 47 feet the first time you equip it. (Also note that the value is reset when you restore a saved game.)
___ A Daedric shield with a constant Chameleon on Self ranged 1% to 59%, and an exquisite ring with a constant Chameleon on Self ranged 1% to 47%. (Or have two rings and an amulet with the 1% to 47% Chameleon on each.) These objects are very, very useful because if your total Chameleon percentages add up to 100% or more, no hostile person or creature in the game will be able to attack you consistently. (You may still get caught stealing stuff in shops if you don't use Sneak mode, but the proprietor and guards won't be able to attack you.)
___ A Daedric shield or exquisite ring or amulet with a constant Summon spell on it. This sounds strange, but you can have an item with a constant effect Summon spell. When you equip the item, the monster is summoned. Its duration time is infinite, and it'll only disappear if it gets killed in combat or you unequip the summoning item. If it does get killed or left behind somewhere, then just unequip and re-equip the constant summoning item to gate in a new monster right next to you. No worries about duration or magical charge! (The most powerful monster you can put on an item is the Storm Atronach, and it has to go on a Daedric tower shield. Exquisite rings and amulets can hold any monster up to a Flame Atronach.)
___ Two exquisite rings and/or amulets with all the Bound spells on them that are needed to give you a full suit of Daedric-like armor and weapons. (Well, nearly full -- there are no Bound Greaves or Bound Pauldrons spells.) The summoned stuff is very light-weight, fortifies related skills, and can be "repaired" by simply removing and re-equipping the two constant effect items that summon them. You can even switch out individual Bound items with other items (you just can't drop them from inventory). However, the armor isn't nearly as protective as real Daedric armor, and its armor rating is a fixed value no matter what your armor skills are.
