How can I increase attribute multipliers for a level-up?
- 1 of 10: In the unpatched version of the game, the only way to do that is to practice and/or train your major and minor skills. No increase in miscellaneous skills will help.
- 2 of 10: In any patched version, miscellaneous skill practice will affect the attribute multipliers, so it's to your advantage to practice and buy training in miscellaneous skills whose governing attribute is one you want to increase quickly.
- 3 of 10: You can get up to a x5 multiplier in any attribute (except Luck) -- meaning that you can gain up to 5 points of that attribute when you level up. For each attribute, the multiplier is determined by looking at the skills governed by the attribute, counting the number of skill points you've gained in all of those skills since the last time you leveled up, and dividing by two. The minimum multiplier is 1 and the maximum is 5 -- you usually round down any fractions.
- 4 of 10: Ideally, you want to have x5 multipliers for three different attributes so you can take full advantage of your leveling up. Or, since the Luck attribute can't ever have a multiplier, you might want to plan on getting x5 multipliers on only two attributes before leveling up so that you can always add one point to Luck. You wouldn't have to do this every single time, though, since you'll probably level up at least 70 times before you're done.
- 5 of 10: Let's say, for example, you rest and level up (right after saving your game) only to find that you get a measly x2 multiplier for Strength, and that's it. Restore your save from right before you leveled up, then go buy training in any skill (whether major, minor, or miscellaneous) that has Strength as its governing attribute. The more you do of that, the higher your Strength multiplier will be (with a max of x5) when you level up.
- 6 of 10: The mix of skills generally does not matter. For example, if you want a x5 on Strength, you could train in Acrobatics 10 times, or Acrobatics 5 times and Axe 5 times, or Long Blade 3 times and Armorer 7 times, etc.
- 7 of 10: Also, pick another attribute or two that you'd like to increase when you level up and go train in skills that use them as governing attributes. (Since no skill has Luck as its governing attribute, you can only increase that one point per level, no matter how much training you do.)
- 8 of 10: When you go to rest and level up now, your attribute multiplier situation should be a *lot* better!
- 9 of 10: NOTE: You still only get level-up credit points for training major and minor skills (not miscellaneous ones). It takes 10 level-up credit points to go up one level -- but you need to gain a total of 30 skill points to get x5 multipliers in 3 different attributes. This means you'll generally need to combine training or practice major, minor, and miscellaneous skills to level up as quickly as possible and still get the maximum attribute multipliers for each level-up. If you're levelling up purely by training, the "perfect" balance would be to pay for 10 points of major or minor skills and another 20 points of miscellaneous skills. Training also tends to be cheaper for miscellaneous skills, since you won't get as much practice with them during normal gameplay.
- 10 of 10: WARNING: If your accumulated level-up credit points get way too high, like 256 or so, they'll wrap back around to zero. This could happen if you train mostly in major and minor skills for a long time.
