Murder in the Abbey Hints
General Information
Murder in the Abbey (which is known simply as The Abbey in Europe) is a traditional point-and-click adventure game in the vein of countless nineties classics. It fairly faithfully follows the story of Umberto Eco's book "The Name of the Rose", and like the book is set in a monastery in the 14th Century. Your task, as the famed monk/sleuth Leonardo De Toledo, is to investigate the murder of a monk at the eponymous abbey, and find the culprit! The game is traditional adventure fare, and my general recommendations are to pick up everything that isn't bolted to the backdrop, and speak at great length with the abbey's charming cast of characters. The voice acting and script are highlights here so getting the most of out of the well-written and well-performed dialogue is a must.
Left-clicking is your LOOK command, and right-clicking performs a relevant PICK-UP, USE, TALK TO, or GIVE action. You can access a map of the abbey whenever outside by pressing the M key on your keyboard. This is useful for quickly nipping from one location to another, as the walking speed of our Holmesian hero is a crawl at best, and I assume it would be undignified of him to run! You can also double-click an exit from any screen to skip directly there without waiting to see him traverse the screen.
