Myst III: Exile Hints
How much does each type of piece weigh?
of 13: The clue telling you what those slices weigh is fairly direct, once you find it.
of 13: It isn't in this age, though.
of 13: Maybe Saavedro worked on this same problem himself.
of 13: Think about where you found other clues to puzzles that he's "left" for you.
of 13: There was a notebook in the study of the house on J'Nanin, next to the elevator.
of 13: Go back to that study and look there.
of 13: See those little balances on and near his desk?
of 13: Look at them carefully, and they'll tell you what you need to know.
of 13: Two scales show the weights of the different types of pieces -- click on each one for a close-up.
of 13: One scale shows 4 wood pieces on one side and 1 crystal piece on the other side, and the two sides balance.
of 13: This means that 4 wood pieces weigh as much as 1 crystal piece.
of 13: Another scale shows 4 crystal pieces on one side and 1 stone piece on the other. Of course, this means that 4 crystal pieces weigh as much as a stone piece.
of 13: Or, putting together the information from both scales, 1 stone piece equals 16 wood pieces.
