Myst III: Exile Hints

I've gotten to that door, but there's nothing but a giant hole here.

  • 1 of 12: You might want to fill that hole somehow.
  • 2 of 12: Think of how you got here in the first place.
  • 3 of 12: You had to move the barrel to the right side of the platform, so you could get past it.
  • 4 of 12: It was a rather large barrel.
  • 5 of 12: As large as the hole in front of you here.
  • 6 of 12: Now that the door's open, the barrel would probably fill the hole if you sent it back to the left side of the platform.
  • 7 of 12: Go back to the controls and basically undo what you did before.
  • 8 of 12: The barrel should be at the far right of the platform, the left lever at the controls should be pointing down, and the right lever should be pointing up. (This is the way they had to be for you to get to the door -- if they're not in these positions, you need to go back and make sure you can still reach the door.)
  • 9 of 12: From there, pull the left lever up.
  • 10 of 12: Then, push the left lever down again.
  • 11 of 12: Push the right lever down to send the barrel through the door.
  • 12 of 12: Move the right lever back up (with the left lever still down) to put the ladder back underneath the hole.  You can now walk across the gap that the barrel just filled.
