Myst III: Exile Hints
How do I unlock the rectangular door inside the mountain?
1 of 9: You can't unlock the door from the hallway side -- you need to go around to the other side of the door and unlock it from there.
2 of 9: Go back outside and head toward the crater in the center of the mountain (i.e., not to the area with the ladder that leads to a flooded room). Turn right at the end of the path to cross the crater, and go back inside the mountain when you're on the other side.
3 of 9: Go down a ladder from here, walk past a set of wheels, and climb back up when you reach another ladder past those controls.
4 of 9: You should reach a platform at the top of the ladder, with a door that leads away from the platform.
5 of 9: Open the door and walk across a pipe all the way across the crater.
6 of 9: A locked vent will be in front of you when you reach the other side.
7 of 9: Click on the egg-shaped lever on the left side of this vent to unlock it, and crawl inside.
8 of 9: Near the end of the vent, click down to exit. You'll now be on the other side of the door that you couldn't unlock from the hallway.
9 of 9: Click on the same sort of egg-shaped lever to unlock the door.
