Myst III: Exile Hints

How do I open the locked door near the water, at the start of the age?

  • 1 of 8: You'll have to explore most of the island before you can unlock the door -- you'll probably know when it's time to go through it.
  • 2 of 8: The answer is down at the bottom of the crater.
  • 3 of 8: Once you've found out what there is to do at the bottom of the crater, a ship should be waiting for you.
  • 4 of 8: Hop in the ship and pull the lever there.  You'll fly all the way to another bridge.
  • 5 of 8: Get out of the ship at that second bridge and pull the lever at the far end -- the island where the door is will start floating.
  • 6 of 8: The ship can take you there.
  • 7 of 8: Get back into ship and pull the lever inside to fly off to the floating island.
  • 8 of 8: You can now open the door on the island and go inside.
