Myst IV: Revelation Hints
Okay, I'm done with the chair. Now what?
of 19: If you've managed to unlock the spider chair, then you should be able to wander around freely (after pressing the blue button on the right of the chair's control panel).
of 19: Have you looked at the two clear chambers at the back of the room?
of 19: The one on the left has the numbers 10-5-5 printed on it. The one on the right has the numbers 12-12-12 printed on it. (Make sure you have seen the brief "memories", provided by the amulet, for both chambers.)
of 19: Hmm... these number combinations seem rather familiar....
of 19: Have you gone back to the spider chair, (pressed the blue button to bring down the control panel), then tried entering in one of the two sets of numbers, using the three sliders, as before?
of 19: Have you gone into a close-up of the crystal on the right (as seen when your back is to the spider chair).
of 19: The "memory" from the amulet tells us that "the crystals have an inner matrix that wants to hold onto an electrical build-up indefinitely, but it loses it as soon as the crystal touches a grounded object."
of 19: Hmm... might be an interesting effect, if you can figure out how to ground one of the isolated crystals....
of 19: Did you notice the small garbage can on the floor, between the two clear chambers at the back of the room?
of 19: The garbage can keeps the crystals insulated.
of 19: If you could drop a crystal on the ground, and have it *not* land in the garbage can, perhaps that would be enough to ground a crystal.
of 19: It is possible to slide the garbage can to the left and the right. Make note of which side the garbage can is closest to. The side closest to the garbage can will be the side that the crystal will be caught in the can.
of 19: Make note of which machine is farther from the garbage can -- and what the associated code is, for that machine.
of 19: Enter that code in on the spider chair.
of 19: When a statue drops onto the floor, it will "lose its charge", acting like a bomb.
of 19: If a bomb falls in the correct location, a previously covered elevator will be revealed.
of 19: Make sure that the garbage can has been pushed to the left, then be sure to drop a bomb through the clear chamber on the right.
of 19: The correct setting for the chamber on the right is 12-12-12. To enter this on the chair, push all the sliders all the way to the top.
of 19: Use elevator to get back to the starting area of Spire. From here, you can easily use a linking book to leave Spire.
