Myst IV: Revelation Hints
Tell me how to set the second unit.
of 12: For the sake of giving simple directions, the directions of how to get there will begin from where you first linked to Serenia. From the spot where you first began Serenia, move forward four times, until you are faced with a choice of three directions to choose from (in addition to the one you arrived from). Choose the path to the left. Follow this path to the second water control unit.
of 12: This unit has slightly more complex controls than the first.
of 12: To begin with, make sure you find both areas of the unit that you can interact with. First, if you climb the ladder, you'll see something on the ledge that you can interact with. Now, climb back down the ladder, pivot to the left, and walk one step forward. Turn to the left to look at the unit, and you'll find some sort of handle-attached-to-a-rope that you could pull on.
of 12: To set this unit, you'll need to make use of both interactive areas of the water control unit. Start by climbing up the ladder to see what you could figure out about the controls on this side.
of 12: If you grab the handle of that cart in front of you, you can move it left or right. When it is in its right-most position, you can climb up to stand in next to the cart.
of 12: When you walk in, next to the cart, you should find that the control looks a little more familiar.
of 12: It would seem that this water control unit can be set in a similar fashion as the first one -- it was just disassembled when you first arrived.
of 12: To close the water supply on the left (and keep water flowing on the right), you'll need to pull the handle to the right. To close the water supply on the right (and keep water flowing on the left), you'll have to pull the handle to the left.
of 12: Just moving this control, by itself, won't change the flow of water.
of 12: You will also need to use the rope-with-a-handle on the right side of the machine for the new setting to take effect. Note: On occasion it will be necessary to pull the rope more than once to stop the water. Two pulls are needed when the water control unit is set incorrectly -- the first pull opens all waterways, the second pull closes on of the gates.
of 12: The second water control unit will also need to have the water flow on the left side stopped.
of 12: When you've got the unit assembled, pull the wheel to the far right. Then, disassemble the unit, and go down to the rope and pull it (possibly twice).
