Myst IV: Revelation Hints
A general comment about Serenia
Begin by exploring Serenia as thoroughly as possible. It is helpful to do some exploring, and mapping, without worrying (at first) about solving puzzles, or understanding the complete goal of Serenia. Get familiar with the layout of Serenia, so that you can move quickly from one place to another.
As you explore Serenia, you will discover that it is not easy to "map out". Similar looking paths intertwine with each other, and some areas are simply not accessible at first. There are, however, some common elements that you may wish to make note of.
Wandering along the many pathways in Serenia, you will encounter three "spirits" -- wind, water, and fire. Make note of the various places where you encounter these spirits, as that information will become necessary later.
There are also three water stations, which control the flow of the waterways through Serenia. To the extent possible, make note of their locations, as well.
As with the rest of the game, make sure you view all "memories" that appear on the amulet.
Solving puzzles in Serenia tends to get more complicated, as there are a few different "trigger" events that must happen before the game can progress. Often, one event (or activity) can seem totally unrelated to the rest of the puzzles, yet may need to be done in order to open up access to other puzzles.
