Myst IV: Revelation Hints
I used the lever but nothing happened!
1 of 7: The elevator needs to be in good balance for it to work.
2 of 7: Placing a weight in the crate outside is only part of the balance.
3 of 7: You also need to make sure that the elevator itself is lighter than the crate and cannonball outside.
4 of 7: Did you notice the crate inside the elevator? Did you slide it over, outside of the enclosure?
5 of 7: Did you place cannonballs on the crate, then pull the crate back inside the elevator?
6 of 7: If the crate inside the elevator is the same weight, or heavier than the crate outside, then the lift won't work. Check to see how many cannonballs are inside the elevator and how many are in the crate outside.
7 of 7: As long as the crate *outside* the elevator contains *more* cannonballs then the crate inside, the lever will work. Possible combinations are: One cannonball outside, none inside; two cannonballs outside and either one or none inside; or three cannonballs outside and either two, one, or none inside. Note: there are three cannonballs already inside the crate that cannot be moved back out. These three cannonballs should not be counted when adding or removing the other cannonballs.
