Myst V: End of Ages Hints
How can I save my game?
1 of 4: First, the game keeps separate automatic saves for each of the five player slots -- so that whenever you quit the game and then select "continue" on the main menu, you'll pick up exactly where you left off.
2 of 4: However, you may want to save games manually from time to time. There is at least one place where it's possible to get "stuck" -- so that there's no way to finish the game without starting a new game completely from scratch. To save manually, you will need to find one of the cameras and "player journals", as the manual calls them. There's no particular puzzle involved in getting these objects, but here are some more detailed directions if you need them.
3 of 4: Once you have the camera, move your mouse cursor to the top of the screen or press the ESC key to reveal the menu. You may need to right-click to lock the screen in place if your view looks up when you move the mouse.
Once you're at the menu, click on the camera (the spherical icon) to save the game. Your saved game then appears as a picture in the brown "player journal", after any other comments or pictures/saves that you have already made. Some other games ask you to "name" your game or put it in a specific "slot", but not Myst V. Just open the journal and flip through the pages to see your save. If you want to put a description in there, you can do so simply by clicking on the page and typing away after you've saved.
4 of 4: You can also restore a saved game by opening up your journal and clicking on the link at the top of a picture. Do keep in mind that restoring a saved game undoes everything you did after the point where you saved it. It's a good idea to save frequently just in case you do *want* to undo something bad, but the auto-save when you exit and auto-restore when you "continue" generally means you won't need to restore very often.
