Myst V: End of Ages Hints
How can I finish an age?
of 8: First, you need to solve all of the available puzzles in that age. See the hints for whichever age you're in to figure out what puzzles you have left. If any question within a particular age's section looks unfamiliar, read those hints to see what you may be missing, because virtually every puzzle in the game has a purpose.
of 8: For the first few ages that you'll encounter (K'veer, the Great Shaft, and Direbo), simply solving all of the puzzles should be enough. Those ages are basically ways of getting to what I call the "main ages" -- the four ages where you'll be able to use your slate.
of 8: However, you need to do something to "complete" those four main ages.
of 8: You should see what's known as the Keep in each of these ages -- another "soap bubble", but this one at the end of each age.
of 8: The Keep sort of looks like what you saw back in K'veer -- four pedestals surrounding the central Tablet.
of 8: Your slate should already be waiting for you on that pedestal and glowing blue. (That's how you got to the Keep -- by getting the Bahro to transport your slate here for you. If it's not there, then you haven't finished all the puzzles in the age.)
of 8: Esher will tell you what to do here.
of 8: Just touch (click on) the slate. The pedestal will raise and the slate will be "locked" onto that pedestal. This means you're done with the age.
