1 of 10: You have a very finite amount of time, so you will need to act quickly. (You will want to save your game here.)
2 of 10: Holmes needs to extend the time he can spend in the room.
3 of 10: Maybe he can filter out some of the smoke, and breath for a bit longer.
4 of 10: If he only had something to use as a "smoke filter"...
5 of 10: A piece of cloth would work nicely.
6 of 10: But the rag in your inventory is too dirty. You'll need to find something else.
7 of 10: Those curtains by the door look like they'll do nicely.
