Nancy Drew 18: The Phantom of Venice Hints

How do I pick the flowers on the roof?

  • 1 of 8: You don't have to pick them at all, but you can if you want to make some money.
  • 2 of 8: Your first stop, then, is Rialto Market. Did you translate the sign on the left shelf where the flowers are?
  • 3 of 8: It says, "We buy flowers." Once you've read that sign, look close at the flowers on the roof, and Nancy will ask Margherita if she can pick them. But --
  • 4 of 8: -- if you try, you'll get stung by the bees. Yikes! You need a way to subdue the nasty creatures.
  • 5 of 8: If you played Nancy Drew 17 (Legend of the Crystal Skull), you tackled this same problem when you picked loquats for Iggy. Look for a similar solution here. (If you didn't play that game, read on and I'll tell you what to do.)
  • 6 of 8: Go back to Rialto Market. See that big yellow thing on the shelf with the seed packets? The label on it translates to --
  • 7 of 8: -- "smoker." Perfect! Buy it, and then use it on the bees to subdue them by spraying at them. If a bee turns red, that means it's about to sting you, so you need to spray it right away.
  • 8 of 8: When all the bees are down, Nancy will pick the flowers, and you can then take them back to the market to get paid. You can do this over and over and over, but the bees will start to get wise to you after two or three times, and it will get really hard to keep the bees down long enough to pick the flowers.
