Nancy Drew 18: The Phantom of Venice Hints
How do I work on the mosaic?
1 of 5: The second time you ask to use Colin's microscope, which will happen after Tazza tells you to get in touch with Gina --
2 of 5: -- the microscope's light bulb will pop, and after a short temper tantrum, Colin will ask you to work on his mosaic while he goes to get a replacement. Click on one of the four photos to get started.
3 of 5: On the face of it, this isn't a difficult task. You're trying to make the top half look exactly like the bottom half. Fill in the squares in the top half by picking up tesserae (the little squares at the top) in the colors you need to match the bottom squares. When you fill in all the squares, you'll drop out to the desk again; click on one of the other photos and keep going till you've done all four of them.
4 of 5: The difficulty here comes in telling the colors apart. Red and orange look a lot alike, and so do yellow and green. And the three shades of white are almost identical: stark white, a warm sort of beige, and a very pale pink. You can continue to change out the tiles until all the squares are filled, at which point you're done, for good or ill.
5 of 5: The nice thing about all this is that Colin, surprisingly, isn't that picky. If you make a couple of mistakes, say three or four tesserae per section, he'll be quite happy. But in order to get the "Tessera Twitcher" award, you need to reproduce the photos exactly.
