1 of 5: The note says, "Three years into the study. By removing all duplicates, I find that the only remaining true consonant is key." The number is 3, then.
2 of 5: You can't open the book, so the instruction about removing duplicates must apply to the only part of the book you can see --
3 of 5: -- the title. Look through that title, and any time you find a letter that's repeated, take them both out. For example, there are two Hs, one in "hydroponics" and one in "without." Remove them both.
4 of 5: When you take out all the duplicates, you're left with four letters: Y, E, U, and L. Of these, the only "true consonant" is L, because Y is sometimes a vowel.
