What do I do with the scale and weights?
1 of 10: This puzzle is on top of the desk to the left of the fireplace in the library. You currently have seven weights, and there are nine slots on the scale here. This tells you that you can't do this puzzle till you get the other two weights.
2 of 10: Both of them are in the castle, though. One is on the dining room table in the Great Hall downstairs, and the other is being held by Madame Isibeal.
3 of 10: Once you have all the weights, you can start on the puzzle. Your goal here is to put all nine weights on the scale, three in each pan, so that they balance perfectly. Read to the end of this hint for the answer to the puzzle.
4 of 10: There's a sheet of paper in the drawer here that is a huge help for Junior detectives, less of one for Seniors.
5 of 10: The Junior version gives the exact weight of each piece. Once you know that each side needs to add up to 100, all you have to do is monkey with the numbers until you get it. Start on each side with a really heavy weight, then add in others till you reach 100.
6 of 10: The Senior version doesn't tell you how much each one weighs, but it does tell you what each weight is made of, and you can draw your own conclusions from that. For example, you can be pretty sure lead is a lot heavier than oak.
