Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy Hints
How do I play Difference Detective?
1 of 7: This game is actually kind of fun, though it can be pretty frustrating when you can only find 11 items and time is running out. Read to the end of this hint for a list of all the differences in the first picture.
2 of 7: The game costs one token to play, and there's one in the coin return slot, so you can play it right away if you want.
3 of 7: Drop the token in the slot, then just start looking for things that are different between the two pictures. For example, in the picture of people having a barbecue on the moon, the little girl has a ribbon on her helmet in the picture on the left, but she doesn't in the picture on the right. Click on the ribbon (or on the girl's helmet on the right where the ribbon isn't), and the game will draw a red circle around it.
4 of 7: Keep going until you've found all twelve differences. You have two minutes to do this, and if you can't find them all before the timer runs out, you'll have to start over again with a new picture.
5 of 7: One way to make the puzzle a little easier is to save your game before you start. Then, after the timer runs out, load the saved game and start the same game again. Now you can quickly find the errors you know about and have that much more time to find the rest. Repeat until you know where they all are, and you can click on them all in a snap!
6 of 7: You have to win the game at least once to get an item you'll need for later puzzles, but you can play as many times as you want. There are ten different pictures, and you'll get two tokens every time you bit the machine after the first time.
7 of 7: Here are the differences in the first picture that comes up, the one of the family having a picnic on the moon:
