What does this book mean?

  • 1 of 4: All kinds of things.
  • 2 of 4: One thing it tells you right out is Rita Hallowell was more than a little obsessed with Edgar Allen Poe. Besides that, she also tells you that she's left something behind, a "hidden treasure" (page 6). The rest of the book is the usual vague hints to tell you how to find it.
  • 3 of 4: Pages 1 and 3 are quotes from Poe. Pages 2, 4, and 5 tell you how to find three of the four animal tokens, star-shaped things like the thing the squirrel took.
  • 4 of 4: And page 6 tells you how to find Rita's treasure -- which you won't be able to do until you reach the end of the game.
