Nancy Drew 22: Trail of the Twister Hints
How do I play the Land Rush game?
of 8: This game, which is located in Pa's museum (turn left when you're facing Pa to find the museum), is actually kind of fun, and it can also be lucrative. First, you'll need 5 Pa Pennies.
of 8: Insert the pennies by clicking on the coin slot, pick a level (you start at level 1), and you're off.
of 8: The goal is to claim more parcels of land than the Sooner, the guy on the other side. At the beginning, you can claim any colored section of land around the edge of the game board; after that, you can claim any colored section that touches your land.
of 8: You get to go first, so look for the largest section of land touching the edge of the board and click on it. Wait for the Sooner to claim a parcel, then it's your turn again; click on any square that touches the section you clicked on before to add it to your parcel. Continue on until all the land has been claimed, and the one with the most land wins. If the Sooner wins, you get back your 5 Pa Pennies; if you win, you get more, from 20 (level 1) to 250 (level 4) Pa Pennies, based on how many squares of land you managed to grab.
of 8: In your first turn, your click claims that one section of squares. In subsequent turns, your click claims all the sections of that same color that touch your parcel. So if there are three green sections touching your parcel, clicking on one of them will add all three of them to your parcel of land.
of 8: The board layout is random, so I can't tell you exactly how to move, but the game isn't that hard to win. My general strategy is to start by picking the biggest available section touching as many other large sections that I can find. Pick sections that get you as many pieces in one turn as you can. Try to wall off the Sooner by stretching across the board from top to bottom; if you get walled off like this, remember that you can always claim any section that touches the edge of the board.
of 8: Beat the game at level 1, and the next time you'll be able to move on to level 2, which is harder but pays a higher bonus if you win.
of 8: Oh, and there's a very useful little glitch in the game that will get you much money, if you want it.
