Nancy Drew 23: Shadow at the Water's Edge Hints
How do I solve the renograms?
1 of 5: You'll find instructions on how to solve these puzzles in the game, in the puzzle book Rentaro gives you. They're pretty simple; what you're doing is filling in the blanks so you can trace a direct line from 1 to 56 within the grid, going across, up or down, or diagonally.
2 of 5: I don't like these puzzles too much, but these ones aren't as hard as the one in Nancy Drew 22, "Trail of the Twister," where you had to go from 1 to 88. Here are some strategies I find helpful:
3 of 5: -- The obvious strategy is to start from 1 and go until you get stuck, then move numbers around. But you can start at the end if that works better for you.
4 of 5: -- Another tactic is to look first for numbers that can only be connected one way and do them first, then work around them. For example, if 1 and 3 are on a diagonal line with only one square that connects them, the 2 has to go there and nowhere else.
5 of 5: -- Avoid blocking in higher numbers. Remember, you're going to have to reach them eventually.
