Nancy will automatically put it on her phone. I know it looks like it does something, but it doesn't; it just hangs there looking cute.
You can buy more phone charms at the pachinko parlor if you like them. Also, for every four or five bento boxes you assemble correctly, Yumi will give you another charm. I once ended up with about eight hanging off my phone, which was pretty fun -- but in real life I bet it would be waaaaaayyyyy annoying.
