Nancy Drew 23: Shadow at the Water's Edge Hints

How do I fold the paper I got from the rocks?

  • 1 of 8: This might look pretty obvious to you, especially if you've ever done origami in real life. However, Nancy won't even try without Takae's origami book from Room 18, and she won't use the book until Takae isn't there. So this is another nighttime chore, I'm afraid.
  • 2 of 8: Once you have the book in front of you, pull out the paper from the rocks and follow the directions, in order (I, II, III, etc.). Read to the end of this hint for the exact directions you need.
  • 3 of 8: For example, when you first pull up the paper, you see a I and a line that's dash-dot-dash-dot. According to the book, that means a mountain fold. So click on the words "Mountain Fold" at the upper right of the screen.
  • 4 of 8: Next, you see a II, a dash-dash-dash line, and an arrow with a full white head. The dash-dash line means valley fold, and the full white arrow means fold to the front; they both mean you should click on the words "Fold to Front."
  • 5 of 8: Do you see how this works? It does get a little confusing sometimes, when you see more than one direction at a time. But if you remember what number you're on and check the book to verify the symbols, you'll do fine. Nancy will undo any moves you get wrong, and you can always push the "Start Over" button.
  • 6 of 8: In case you're hopelessly confused, here's the folding you need to do:
  • 7 of 8: The end result of all this folding is a picture of a piece of bamboo with a lid. Hmm.
  • 8 of 8: Looks just like the bamboo fountain in the garden, doesn't it? Let's go look closer at that fountain.
