What was Renate doing with the clock?
Another good question. How did Renate get hold of the dial, and why did she hide it in the clock? Where did she get hold of that blue page? Who built a coded message into an old book? Why? Why any of it?
No real answer to that one. I will say, however, that given Renate's love of messing with the story and setting herself up as the one who knows all the answers, she might have stumbled across it and just put it there to mess with Nancy's head.
