Nancy Drew 24: The Captive Curse Hints
How do I rearrange the stuff in Renate's bag without waking her?
1 of 7: Once Renate is sound asleep, click on her bag to see an odd assortment of items -- a book, some chips, and a couple of chicken-scented markers (ew!), among other things. The most interesting item is at the lower right: a Krolmeister box.
2 of 7: But if you try to pick up the box, the other items make a loud clatter that wakes Renate up, and it's game over. So you need to very carefully rearrange all the other items to get at that box. Read to the end of this hint for a screenshot showing one way to do this.
3 of 7: A left click will pick up an item, and a right click will rotate it. And there's that large empty space at the left for you to park the stuff. So save your game, and let's get started.
4 of 7: The first piece is easy. Pick up the blue thing (it might be a pen or a powder compact) and place it gently in the empty space. Don't drop it from any height; instead, move it till it's actually on the bottom of the bag, and then let go.
5 of 7: You might think the pencil should be next, but it's a bit too long for the space. I'd do one of the markers next. Pick up one of them -- either will do -- and right click to turn it around till it's horizontal, then put it GENTLY on top of the blue thing. Do the same with the other marker.
6 of 7: Now pick up the pencil and rotate it till it's vertical with the eraser at the bottom, then wedge it between the markers and the chip bag, where it will stay quite still.
7 of 7: Do you see the game plan here? There are lots of ways to do this, and any arrangement that frees up that Krolmeister box without waking Renate is the right way. However, if you're not having any luck, here's how I did it:
