Nancy Drew 24: The Captive Curse Hints
How do I decipher Dad's note?
of 14: Nancy gives you a basic rundown of the way this puzzle works, but it's kind of hard to follow. Read to the end of this hint for a translation of the note.
of 14: What's going on here is that the letters have been jumbled around, but in a very organized way. They're all in the columns where they belong, but not in the same row.
of 14: For example, the first word is two letters long, and it currently says TL. The first column has the letters T, T, H, and G, and the second column has L, T, O, I, and H. So the first word will have one letter from the first column followed by one letter from the second column. Can you see any two-letter words in that combination?
of 14: I found two: GO and TO. Try them both -- move the O up to where the L is now, then --
of 14: -- be happy, because the word has now locked. It's "TO." Do you see the process now?
of 14: Start with the small words -- "the" is repeated many times -- and solve away. The more words you solve, the fewer letters you have to look through.
of 14: If you want one more head-start-type hint, the very long word at the start of the second row is --
of 14: "GLOCKENSPIEL," which is an instrument like a xylophone.
of 14: Still stuck? Here's the full message, line by line:
