Nancy Drew 25: Alibi in Ashes Hints
How do I escape from this fire?
of 9: As you probably expected (if you've hung out with Nancy for any length of time), the door is locked. We need to find another way out of the room, and fairly quickly -- if you do nothing, you'll be overcome in about five minutes.
of 9: After you examine the fire escape route poster on the wall, try looking up.
of 9: If you take a step back from the door and look up, you'll see it has a transom, a sort of inside window that they used to put above doors in old buildings to help the air circulate. It looks big enough, if we could just get up there.
of 9: There are all kinds of boxes and junk next to the door. Did you notice that you can pick those pieces up?
of 9: Pile the boxes, books, stools, and trash cans up against the door. When the pile is high enough (and you have to use all the items), the transom will open; click on it to get out into the hall.
of 9: Now we just have to figure out where to go from here, crawling on the ground to avoid the thick poisonous smoke (which is actually very smart practice in a real fire). Cough hack cough!
of 9: This is where the information on that fire escape route sign in the room you just left comes in handy. (If you didn't look at it when you were in there, it's too late now; read on for directions.)
of 9: The door you want is a grey exit door. Ignore all the other doors; they only lead into rooms full of skin-crackling flames, lung-searing smoke, and Second Chance funnies. (You can also ignore Nancy's demands that you hurry; I sat here for ten minutes and never got any more burnt.)
of 9: From outside the thermostat room, go forward-right, forward-forward-right, forward-forward-right-left, forward-forward to get out safely.
