Nancy Drew 27: The Deadly Device Hints
How do I use the photolithography machine and when?
of 15: There are two times you need to use this machine: when you're trying to fix the small coil --
of 15: Once you have the board design, the next step is to insert it into the actual photolithography machine, which is the thing at the right. Read to the end of this hint for the complete process.
of 15: You can also find most of the info you need in the book on top of the machine. Read the third and fourth pages for the complete rundown.
of 15: First, you need to pour in a bottle of the correct etching acid for the type of wafer you're using. The wafers are kept in the cabinet in here, and the key to the cabinet is in Ellie's desk drawer.
of 15: Okay, now you really are ready to go. Following the diagram in the book, add the etching chemical to the funnel at left.
of 15: This makes a tray pop open; put the circuit design in the tray.
of 15: This makes a second tray pop open; put the silicon wafer in there. Now push the red button, and the process starts. It takes 12 hours, so you can go do other things and come back the next day or night (or later) to pick up your finished circuit.
of 15: When you come back, you'll find the wafer tray popped open; take the wafer, and there's your completed object. Ta-dah!
of 15: The second time you use this machine, the process is exactly the same, except you won't be using the computer to make a circuit board. That is --
of 15: -- make a second bottle of etching acid at the chemical station and pour it in the funnel, insert the design, get a second silicon wafer from the cabinet and insert it, press the red button, and come back in 12 hours.
