Nancy Drew 28: Ghost of Thornton Hall Hints
First Note: "Even ghosts ... "
of 18: This is the first note you get, and it's called "Rhyme Note" in inventory. It will appear soon after you start charging the phone; listen for "eerie singing" at the bottom of the stairs.
of 18: Let's take it a few lines at a time. It starts out -- "Even ghosts have their favorite haunts! / Charlotte requests a meeting with you."
of 18: Well, we don't necessarily want to meet Charlotte, do we? But this note is clearly not from Charlotte, since ghosts can't hold a pen; it must be from someone else who's playing stupid ghost games. That person we DO want to meet.
of 18: Next, it says, "Recite a rhyme with dreadful meter / Where dreadful meter is at its peak."
of 18: In the first line, meter means the rhythm of a line of poetry; in the second line, meter could mean an instrument that measures something, like --
of 18: -- well, like an EMF detector. So you need to find the place in the house that has the highest reading on the EMF detector.
of 18: When you find it, Nancy will comment on it. So if you think you found it but Nancy says nothing, you didn't find it yet.
of 18: Having trouble? It's in the tool room.
of 18: Go to the tool room and stand right in front of the double doors, then pull up the EMF detector and wait for Nancy to comment.
of 18: Now what do you do once you find the spot? Let's look at the rest of the note.
of 18: The next two lines are, "Make yourself blind / Don't dare peek." We're not talking about permanent blindness here; something temporary will do just as well.
of 18: There's something in the house here that will make a great blindfold, though you may not have noticed it.
of 18: Go into the parlor and grab a napkin from the tea service. But don't do anything with it yet; we have to tackle the rest of the note first.
of 18: It says, "Call Charlotte home." If you've talked to Wade and listened to Jess's phone journal, you've heard about a poem people say to call Charlotte. If you haven't, well, go do so.
of 18: Okay, now you're ready. Stand in front of the door in the tool room and use the EMF; while still looking at the EMF, click on the napkin in your inventory. You should now get a choice of things to say.
