Nancy Drew 29: The Silent Spy Hints
What do I do with the drives when I have them?
of 9: Zoe tells you to go to the main computer, but she doesn't mean the one you tapped earlier; she means the one in this area. It's labeled "Computer Main," and it's in the little niche where you stood to hide from Ewan before.
of 9: This next puzzle is kind of like a sudoku puzzle, in that you want to have one of every color in each row and column. But just to make it more fun (that is, harder), you also have to make sure you only have one of every color in each of the groups that are connected by the white lines. Yuck! Read to the end of this hint for the complete layout you need.
of 9: In this case, some of the slots already have drives in them, so that eliminates some possibilities. And there's no time limit here, in spite of Zoe's panicky comment.
of 9: In some ways, this is just a visual version of a logic problem, if that's any help to you. Follow the rules and eliminate any contradictions.
of 9: For example, in the Amateur version, the middle column needs a yellow drive in it somewhere. But all of the slots are part of a group that already has a yellow drive in it, except for the top slot. That means the top slot in the middle column must be yellow.
of 9: And now that that slot is filled, you can see that the first slot in that group can't be purple or red, because the second column already has a red drive and a purple one. So the top slot in the second column must be green. See?
of 9: The more slots you fill in, the easier it is to fill in more of them. When you fill up a row or column correctly, a little light will come on around the edges of the array; when you get a group right, all the drives in that group will light up, making the colors much easier to see.
of 9: If you can't get the lights to come on or you just don't like logic problems, or sudokus for that matter, here's the array you need:
