How do I make cookies?
1 of 9: To get started making cookies, go to the little stand to the left of the hotel entrance and click on the "Help Wanted" sign. The proprietor will explain what you need to do.
2 of 9: Making these cookies, which are made up of two cookie wafers sandwiched together with jam in the middle and icing and sprinkles on top, is a matter of studying the cookie shown and figuring out what was put on the cookie and in what order.
3 of 9: For example, the cookie might have red jam with blue sprinkles on the bottom layer, then another cookie with orange jam, red sprinkles, white icing, and a star cut-out in the top cookie.
4 of 9: But in order to get paid for the cookie, you have to make it look exactly the same as the one in the picture. Is the icing on top of the sprinkles, or are the sprinkles on top? Are the sprinkles put on before or after the star cutout? Is there icing on the bottom layer?
5 of 9: Sometimes there's only a bottom layer, which is the dark brown circle that's in place when you start. Sometimes the bottom layer doesn't have any jam on it. Sometimes the top layer has both red and blue sprinkles, but one is put on before the cutout and one after.
6 of 9: So this is an exercise in analyzing the model cookie and paying attention to the details. There's no penalty for making cookies wrong, except you don't get paid, so you can just keep trying till you get the hang of it.
7 of 9: Pay attention, for example, to whether the sprinkles are on top of the icing or under it -- whether the sprinkles cover the cutout or don't -- whether there are sprinkles on the jam under the second cookie layer.
8 of 9: If you make the cookie exactly as shown, you get your tips (9 or 10 pounds if you're fast enough, less if it takes you a while) and Nancy says something smug about how good she is. If you make a mistake, you get nothing and Nancy says something humble.
9 of 9: And remember, it's not a big deal if you can't figure it out; you can always get money by gathering coins.
