Nancy Drew 30: The Shattered Medallion Hints
How do I charge the sub's claw?
1 of 7: In order to use the grabber claw in the sub, you have to first go to the red and white devices to the left of the subs. It's labeled, "Retractable claw hydraulic recharge," which pretty much says it all.
2 of 7: When you open the panel, you see a 3D image at the left, a flat plane at the right, and a diamond-shaped pattern in the middle. What you're doing here is rebuilding the structure at the left on the plane at the right by clicking on the pattern in the middle. Read to the end of this hint for a picture showing what numbers to put where.
3 of 7: If you mess about with this a bit, you'll see how it works. Each square is currently at 1, meaning there's one cube in that spot. Click on a 1, and it changes to 2; on the right, you'll see that square suddenly add a cube. See?
4 of 7: Some parts of this are pretty easy to do. The front faces are obvious, and you can count how many cubes tall each column is.
5 of 7: As it goes into the interior, you have to be more observant. Compare the two pictures frequently to see if they match, and compare one column to the one next to it to see how tall it should be.
6 of 7: The hardest bits are the columns in the middle that you can't really see. Look for the tiniest little edges of color to see what's going on there. You can also solve all the other bits around them, then advance that one column slowly one cube at a time till it's right.
7 of 7: When you get the image perfect, you have enough power to use your claw five times. If you need more than that, you'll have to solve the puzzle again. There are five puzzles in all, if you like this kind of thing -- but if you don't, back away and come back to get the puzzles to cycle through; continue until you get the same puzzle you solved the first time.
