Nancy Drew 30: The Shattered Medallion Hints

Monster

  • 1 of 7: Each game consists of one round as the monster and one as the farmer. When you're the monster, you hide monsters among the cows and try to kill as many as you can before you're discovered. When you're the farmer, you try to find and kill the monsters before all your cows die.
  • 2 of 7: I find it much easier being the farmer, partly because farmers get to arrange the cows to minimize the places the monsters can hide.
  • 3 of 7: The strategy when you're the monster is to put your monsters in spots where they're surrounded by cows. Kill cows that are surrounded by other cows so it's not immediately obvious where your monster is. If you kill a cow that's only touched by one other cow, the farmer will instantly know where the monster is; if you kill one so that there are six possibles to choose from, the farmer is more likely to miss the monster.
  • 4 of 7: When the farmer manages to kill a monster, they're given a chance to take out another cow. If it's a monster, they get yet another turn; if it's just a cow, they lose a point and their turn ends.
  • 5 of 7: My strategy when I'm the farmer is to spread the cows out as much as I can so they're only touching one or two other cows. That way, I only have to choose between two or three possible cows.
  • 6 of 7: Unless you're absolutely sure where the next monster is, pass on your second chance rather than killing one of your cows yourself. Killing a cow does narrow the field, but it also costs you a point.
  • 7 of 7: The difference between the easy, medium, and hard versions has to do with your opponent's playing ability. In the easy game, you win 90% of the time. I do like those odds ...
