1 of 3: Don't worry; you have quite a bit of time left to solve this puzzle.
2 of 3: If you are worried about the time, use the old "save-the-game-frequently" approach. First, create a saved game as soon as you can. Then explore around Stage 3. As you solve a puzzle, or learn more about what to do, go back to your saved game, and then go straight to the puzzle solution, or whatever stage you discovered. Then create a new saved game. This will maximize your time, since all "exploring" time can now be skipped.
