The Mystery of the Nautilus Hints

How do I fix the gear that has fallen off?

  • 1 of 18: You won't be able to pick up the fallen gear by yourself; it's too heavy.
  • 2 of 18: You'll need to find another way of lifting the gear to its proper place.
  • 3 of 18: Perhaps you could use some basic physics.
  • 4 of 18: If you could find something equally heavy, and use its weight to offset the weight of the gear...
  • 5 of 18: But you'd also need to find a way to counterbalance the two items.
  • 6 of 18: Take the ladder to the middle level of the gears room.
  • 7 of 18: Walk out onto the walkway.
  • 8 of 18: The fallen gear is immediately below you.
  • 9 of 18: There is also a fairly heavy piece of metal beam here.
  • 10 of 18: If only you could figure a way to use the heavy beam to help you lift the fallen gear.
  • 11 of 18: Go up to the top level in the gears room.
  • 12 of 18: Walk out onto the walkway.
  • 13 of 18: If you could drop a heavy cable, or something similar, over this platform, perhaps you could use the metal beam below you to help lift the fallen gear.
  • 14 of 18: Drop the chain onto the walkway.
  • 15 of 18: Go down to the lower level, and attach the gear to the chain that is now hanging there.
  • 16 of 18: Go up the ladder to the middle level, and attach the chain to the heavy metal beam.
  • 17 of 18: Now use the weight of the beam as a counterweight to the fallen gear.
  • 18 of 18: When the fallen gear is raised, click on it to reattach it.
