The Mystery of the Nautilus Hints

How do I open the small locked cabinet above the stove?

  • 1 of 23: You won't find a key for this cabinet.
  • 2 of 23: You'll have to use brute force.
  • 3 of 23: In this case, extreme brute force.
  • 4 of 23: You don't have any standard tools, so you'll need to improvise.
  • 5 of 23: In this case, you'll need to generate some real pressure.
  • 6 of 23: Look around the kitchen for other implements.
  • 7 of 23: You should find a large pot.
  • 8 of 23: The pot is on the workspace in the middle of the kitchen.
  • 9 of 23: The large pot is actually a pressure cooker.
  • 10 of 23: Perhaps you can build up some pressure to help open the locked cabinet.
  • 11 of 23: How do you normally operate a pressure cooker?
  • 12 of 23: It won't work if it's empty, now, will it?
  • 13 of 23: Look around the kitchen for something to put in it.
  • 14 of 23: Fill it with water from the sink.
  • 15 of 23: Now it's time to heat things up.
  • 16 of 23: Put the pot on top of the stove (the one to the right of the sink, under the locked cabinet, of course).
  • 17 of 23: The stove is very old.  It doesn't operate with electricity or gas.
  • 18 of 23: You'll need to light a fire in the stove.
  • 19 of 23: You should see steam coming out of the pressure valve on the cooker.
  • 20 of 23: Left like this, not much else will happen.
  • 21 of 23: Think of a way to cause the pressure cooker to build up lots of pressure.
  • 22 of 23: Click on the steam near the top of the cooker to close the pressure valve.
  • 23 of 23: The pressure cooker will turn bright red, steam will build up, and the ensuing explosion will open the locked cabinet.
