How does Second Chance work?
When you've taken an action that results in your death or expulsion, click on Second Chance and you'll be put back in the game at the last possible moment before the fatal moment.
What Second Chance *won't* do is correct a nonfatal mistake. That is, if you get lost in a maze or select the wrong button in a puzzle, clicking on Second Chance won't do anything but make your carpal tunnel syndrome worse.
For that reason, it's a good idea to save every once in a while just in case. The game won't let you get into a situation that you can't get back out of, but it's sometimes easier to start over than to try to disentangle the knot you've created.
