1 of 4: This page shows a soldier using a staff with a Mercury symbol on it subduing demons while an hourglass flows.
2 of 4: The symbols on the bottom translate to Mercury + Earth = Fire.
3 of 4: It's telling you that to light the forge, you'll need to use something of Mercury's on several gargoyles, while the clock ticks. But this won't work unless you've got the Earth element working first.
