Nancy Drew 11: Curse of Blackmoor Manor Hints
How do I make the key?
of 15: This is a bit of a stinker, so don't feel bad if you don't have a clue where to start. And of course, it's TONS easier in the DVD version.
of 15: Let's start with the Mutus Liber. The page you want is the one with the grid with all the symbols, page 8.
of 15: Notice there are 12 pictures here, three rows of four each. Look at the key mold; it has 12 crosses, three rows of four. This is not a coincidence.
of 15: So each picture goes with a cross. But how do you translate a picture into a cross?
of 15: Do the pictures look familiar? You've seen them on the coats of arms in the Great Hall, if you noticed.
of 15: Go find the one with the pointing king in the lower right corner of this grid, for instance. You'll find it left of the library door.
of 15: Now look closely at the motto. See anything there that isn't a letter?
of 15: There's an odd symbol to the right and left of the words. It looks like a T on its side. That's the shape of the part of the key that's in the lower right corner.
of 15: So remove the tabs in the lower right corner of the key mold to form a hole that shape; to do this, take out the left and middle tabs.
of 15: Repeat this for the entire grid -- that is, go to the Great Hall and find the coats of arms with the pictures from the Mutus Liber on them, then find what symbol each one has on the motto, then reproduce that shape on the key mold.
of 15: Use the key mold on the crucible to fill it. If you have all the pieces in the right places, Nancy will tell you that it's correct. If it's not, put the bad key back in the crucible, re-melt it, and try again.
of 15: Now go use it on the keyhole, if you're ready to start the End Game.
