Nancy Drew: The Secret of the Old Clock Hints
Are there any Easter eggs or other jokes?
of 13: There's only one Easter egg, and it's not too impressive. (For anyone who doesn't know, an Easter egg is an in-joke put into a game by the programmers. For example, in "Curse of Blackmoor Manor," if you click on the chattering teeth ten times, they start to cluck like a chicken.)
of 13: To trigger the Easter egg in this game, load a game after the picture in Emily's room starts to move. Straighten the picture and leave the room, then come back in. Do this ten times to make the picture say something odd.
of 13: As for in-game jokes, Titusville is full of them. Sunnybrook Farm is a book and a movie starring Shirley Temple, everyone at Lowood Academy seems to be part of the world of the book "Jane Eyre," Blenheim Nursery is playing out the movie "Little Shop of Horrors," and Camp Avondale is about to be the scene of the horror movie "Friday the 13th." And it's just a throwaway, but Vache (of Vache's Dairy) is French for cow, which is appropriate, I guess. All of this, as well as the origin of the demented Zippy Gas slogan, can be learned by delivering many MANY telegrams.
of 13: Also check out the magazines in the parlor at Lilac Inn. One is called "Like," but it looks like a combination of "Look" and "Life," two very popular magazines of the day. Next to it is the "Tuesday Morning Bannister," which bears a striking resemblance to the better-known "Saturday Evening Post."
of 13: And as with all the Nancy Drew games (except the first one), there's a lot of things to find from other games. There are no KoKo Kringle bars this time, but look for the following:
of 13: -- The song on the record in Emily's room (from "Curse of Blackmoor Manor")
of 13: -- The carousel horse, posters, and a postcard in Topham's house (from "Haunted Carousel")
of 13: -- The "Zagnad the Magnificent" poster in Topham's house (from "Final Scene")
of 13: -- Farmer Johnson's second "tip" (from "Curse of Blackmoor Manor")
of 13: -- Krolmeister Nails and Krolmeister Crystal (from Loulou's cake oven in "Curse of Blackmoor Manor," and in other games too)
of 13: -- Benson Aviation poster in the General Store (from Em's store in "Ghost Dogs")
of 13: -- Birdcage in the carriage house, and perhaps the stuffed bird in Topham's house (from "Curse of Blackmoor Manor")
