How do I use the telephone?
1 of 3: It's pretty straightforward. Lift off the earpiece (on the left), put a nickel in the slot, and tell the operator what number you want.
2 of 3: The only useful people you can call are your dad and your friends Bess and George. Because Bess has a party line (that is, more than one family shares the same line), you'll get interrupted a lot when you talk to her, but just keep calling back and you'll be able to finish the conversation.
3 of 3: But don't forget, every call costs you a nickel -- so watch your purse!
