Nancy Drew: The Secret of the Old Clock Hints
How do I open this clock?
of 12: There are two clues to opening this clock, one in Josiah's memory book and one at the golf course.
of 12: There are two games at the golf course -- golf, and a strange game machine with colored golf balls.
of 12: When you solve the golf ball game, you get an odd poem. Read it out loud.
of 12: Particularly the highlighted words.
of 12: Now think about Josiah's comment from page 7 of the memory book: "Poem on the golf course -- sounds like numbers to me!"
of 12: If those highlighted words were numbers, what would they be?
of 12: "Once" might be 1, "too" might be 2, and so on. Write all the numbers down, and you get --
of 12: -- 1242827.
of 12: Now go back to the clock. We need to find a way to enter those numbers on that clock, when all we have to work with is one clock hand and a button on top.
of 12: If you just spin the hand to each number in turn, nothing happens. There must be something else we have to do to make the clock register each number in order.
of 12: Turn the hand to 1 and press the moon button on top of the clock, then turn it to 2 and press the moon button again. Go through all the numbers, pressing the moon after each one. If you mess it up, press the button at the center of the clock to reset it and start again.
of 12: When you get all the way through all the numbers, surprise!
