Nancy Drew: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon Hints

How do these scales work?

  • 1 of 7: You could try using the slugs in the pans and see what happens, but it's kind of hard to tell what's going on when you only have two slugs to play with.
  • 2 of 7: The number in the middle shows the total weight of slugs in both pans. If you put slugs in both pans, the number in the middle subtracts the one on the left from the one on the right and shows the result. For example, if you put a 9 in the right and a 5 in the left, 9 - 5 = 4, so the display shows 4. If you put them both in the same pan, 9 + 5 = 14, so the display shows 14. (This is just an example, so you do not need to the 5 and 9 slugs to solve this puzzle right now.)
  • 3 of 7: The little arrow under the lights on the top shows how many slugs you've used. If you had five slugs and put them all in, the arrow would point to the picture of the bell.
  • 4 of 7: In order to get the lights to go on, you have to make the number represented by that picture using the number of slugs indicated by the arrow. For example, if you wanted the horseshoe to light up, you'd need to use nine slugs that added up to 13.
  • 5 of 7: This first one is pretty easy. The owl is 7 and the cherries are 10, and you have a 7 and a 3. Can you do this part on your own?
  • 6 of 7: Put the 7 in one pan to light up the owl, then put in the 3 to make 10 and light up the cherries, and POP! The door opens.
  • 7 of 7: When you're done, just back up; Nancy will put the slugs back in inventory on her own.
